IMPROVING CONCENTRATION
IMPROVING CONCENTRATION: The ability to concentrate the
mind is one of the most important skills you ever learn. Good concentration
is essential to both learning and performing. The inability to concentrate
is responsible for restlessness, dissatisfaction, boredom, anxiety and
feeling overwhelmed. Concentration is the source of deep feelings of satisfaction,
contentment, and pleasure. It is these experiences of deep concentration
that we remember fondly, and that we seek to repeat. Those who think they
love golf, are really seeking moments of perfect concentration. It just
happens that they most often achieve that state of mind on a golf course,
and so they return again and again, hoping to recapture that moment of
timeless perfection when they were of one mind with the club, the ball
and the universe.
This workshop teaches participants how to concentrate
the mind and how to eliminate boredom and anxiety from everyday life.
There is a large experiential component where participants use their newly
acquired understanding and tools for promoting concentration to learn
a new skill. We then examine how these same techniques can be applied
in other settings like business and home life.Below is a mind map from
a concentration workshop that Charles gave at the Executive Women in Texas
Government Conference on Peak Performance.
