Villa
Sumaya is full of wonderful spots for relaxing and watching
scenery. Participants have plenty of free time each day
to visit, make new friends, or explore the local areas
of interest.

At right is the private dock for Villa Sumaya. From here,
participants can catch a regularly scheduled water taxi to any of the
villages or towns that surround the lake. Some of these are isolated villages
of Guatemalan Indians, most of whom do not speak English or Spanish.
|
|
There
are several larger towns, including Panachel, seen at left. Some of these
towns cater to young European back packers and have a very active night
life. Others are known for their healing arts, or language schools.
Within a short boat ride, there is something for everyone.
|
|
One
of the favorite uses of free time is just to Hang out at the Center.
Participants are often found reading a book, napping in
a hammock, getting a massage, relaxing in the Jacuzzi, or just watching
the scenery.
