Making
Friends in Yelapa
The
photo at left shows participants from the February 2000
retreat who decided to stay on in Yelapa for a couple
of extra days after the retreat. They rented palapas
on the ocean and had a great time hanging out.
|
During
the periods of free time, participants often gather into
small groups and then set off together, to explore the
village and surrounding mountains and jungles. The trek
to the high waterfalls provides ample opportunity to get
to know fellow participants a little better. Below left
Hector (a nickname given by a resident of Yelapa, and
quickly picked up by retreat participants) poses with
Pamela Arthur our guide for the trek. Pamela has been
spending 7 months a year living in Yelapa for 20 years,
but returns to her home in Canada during the summers.
She designs equestrian courses, and is an expert horse
woman. In Yelapa, she takes groups on foot or by mule
into the mountains on trips that can last 4 hours or 3
days depending upon the group.
| The
day after our expedition to the high water falls, Pamela
invites us all for an English style tea party at her
home, high up on a cliff, over looking the bay. Pamela
has prepared sandwiches and assorted pastries, and breaks
out her best china.

New
friends, Peter and Sue set off on an adventure to explore
the fishing village of Yelapa. |
Gail
& Susan hang out at the retreat center during free time.
|
Susan
and Alli, roomates at the Feb 2001 retreat are soon
best friends and share a hug on the last day of
the retreat.

Retreat taken on the Pier in Puerto Vallarta on the last
day of the retreat.
