Workshops
Each day Charles will give at least one
workshop, sometimes two, on a variety of topics related
to, and drawn from Yoga & Meditation. These workshops
include:
- Improving Concentration;
- The Art of Sense-Withdrawal;
- Science and Mystery of Breath;
- The Mind/Body Connection;
- Creative Visualization;
- Discussion of the Yamas & Niyamas;
- The Mind/Body Writing Meditation,
- Improving Balance
- The Seven Chakras& Kundalini Awakening
- Chanting & Mantra
- Creative Writing
These
are all highly developed workshops that Charles has been presenting
for over 12 years to Universities, conferences, and corporations
like 3M, IBM, and Apple, and the workshops are supported by
handouts and mind maps that he has developed over the years.
For retreats, Charles customizes each topic
to address how to use these skills to improve your practice
of Yoga, as well as other areas of your life. All of his workshops
are highly experiential, informative, and fun. For more information
about these topics click
here, or if you prefer, you can visit his business web-page
at http://www.expandingparadigms.com.
There are also opportunities for guest teachers
who have areas of expertise related to yoga to lead a workshop.
The schedule is kept flexible so that we can take advantage
of chance encounters where we have to opportunity to invite
musicians to join us for an evening of music, or a historian
to talk about the history of the valley, and the ancient Indians
who used to live here, or ...? On Several retreats we have
run into and befriended yoga teachers who happen to be vacationing
in Yelapa who have shared their experience and ideas with
us as well.

The
pictures above are taken from the February 2000 retreat
at Los Naranjos. Groups usually decide to meet out doors,
but occasionally choose to use the living room area of Los
Naranjos instead, especially in the evenings if better lighting
is required.
In addition to the workshops listed above,
Charles also teaches a mind-mapping workshop for those interested
in learning. Charles has been teaching this skill to teachers,
universities, and businesses for about 9 years. In every
retreat there is always at least one person who later says
that this was the most important and useful skill that they
acquired during the retreat. Below is an example of a mind-map,
this one on the topic of how to Mind-Map!
As with the yoga classes and the meditation
sessions, all workshops are optional, and often students
choose to use this time to explore, or take a nap in a hammock.
