a year, on Labor Day, yoga teachers and studios throughout Austin,
open their doors to the public and offer free yoga classes. This
is done as a service, a small token of our gratitude for the continued
support that we enjoy from the greater Austin yoga community.
It is also an opportunity to raise public awareness
of the rich diversity of excellent instruction available in Austin,
and to introduce new students to Yoga.
Charles will be teaching a special workshop on Labor day, September 3rd, 2012, at Cafe Dance Studio. 3307-B, Hancock Dr., Austin 78731
7:30-9 pm - Effort & Grace in Asana
If you would like an email reminder, please contact Charles and ask to be on his monthly email list.
In addition to class that Charles will be offering at the Cafe' Dance Studio, there will be 25+ studios paraticipating, and about 300 classes to choose from. For a complete listing of classes please visit www.freedayofyoga.com
If you are a yoga teacher, or know of one who might be interested in teaching, or providing space for a teacher to use, please contact Charles MacInerney ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will work with you to make sure you are included in all outgoing promotional material.
Charles was one of the original organizers of the very first Free Day of Yoga and continues to participate in the organization of this event, in addition to teaching classes.
The first year about 800 students attended classes around the city. The day exceeded our expectations and was a great success. The second year we added lots of classes and extra teachers to cover the higher than expected attendance and we had over 1300 people show up. The last 7 years we have averaged about 3000 participants, some from as far away as Houston and Dallas. Now the free day of yoga is held in Houston, Dallas and other major metro areas in Texas and the US.
If you do not live in Austin, and would like to start your own Free Day of Yoga in your home city, please contact Charles and he can provide you with an outline of what is involved, and timelines to help you get started.
