Charles previously started and ran the
first yoga class for cardiac patients in central Texas. The pilot program
was sponsored by Seton Hospital, and ran for two years.
Most of Charles' students followed him
to one of his regular Hatha Yoga classes and some continue to study
with him there. Seton Hospital continues to support his work with free
publicity on their web-site, and in their magazine, and have twice asked
Charles to be their Key-Note speaker for the cardiac rehabilitation
conference.

The two photographs above show cardiac rehabilitation
students practicing hatha yoga exercises in McFadden Auditorium of the
Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas.

At left is a group photograph taken shortly before the program was closed
due to budget cutbacks. Although many of the students continue to study
with Charles in regular yoga classes, they all miss the special cardiac
classes which had a stronger meditation component, and provided a safer
environment for visualization and meditation exercises, and in which
to share with each other. It is this group support that Charles feels
is lacking in open classes and can only be regained by creating a special
class just for patients and their spouses and families to practice Hatha
Yoga and Meditation together. Check back here in late summer to find
out if they have succeeded in setting up another cardiac rehab yoga
class. If you or someone you know is interested in joining a cardiac
rehabilitation program based upon yoga and meditation, please e-mail
